This funeral home was a Godsend to us during my Mother's service. I can't stand seeing a poor review of such a great place. Even though this death took us by surprise, and none of us had ever been through something like this, the staff went above and beyond helpful. We had a sibling that "broke down" during the discussion of casket color and I have never seen more empathetic people. They even went with the prices they had quoted my mother 5 years previous to her death. My mother is buried there as well and the grounds are always kept up and look amazing. Praying I will never need their service again, but I would highly recommend this business.
We had pre-planned my mother-in-law's arrangements. Everything was explained upfront, even what the costs would be at the time of death. We felt no pressure what-so-ever to purchase what we did not want or need. The staff was very respectful, personable and sensitive to our requests. They even helped us locate (and drove us to) other family members that were buried there. When the time came, they were VERY helpful and guided us through the visitation & graveside services. Their follow-up afterwards (Thank you cards, death certificates, sign in book, etc.) was excellent and very accommodating. Their facility is very nice and the grave sites are well maintained. I would recommend East Lawn to anyone.
Worst service ever, We have two members buried there. One they tried to switch the grave site the day before the funeral. The second one is still in progress. After five months my brother still does not have his tombstone. It was paid for the first of September, this is the middle of ;January and it is still not up. Some of the excuses are (1) could not get a hold of his sister (2) paper work was not filled out.(3) could not get a hold of his wife since she lived out of state. (4) weather was too bad to have it engraved. Need this person, then another person etc. to approve the drawing. It has been a nightmare. No one tried to contact the sister until it was almost Thanksgiving. When she went to check there was no paper work. People at the funeral home ask where he was buried since there was no paper work except where it was paid for. The management has blamed everyone from wife, to sister to the weather for the delay. The family has been lied to at every turn. We are waiting to see how much longer it will take. Do not deal with these people unless you have to!
Everyone at East Lawn has been so good to my family. My daughter was buried at the cemetary 35 years ago and my parents in 2010. They have taken such good care of the grave sites and have been so kind to us. They are the most wonderful, kind people who treated us like family.
DO NOT use this funeral home! East Lawn is a complete rip off. A competitor was almost half of the cost for the same exact service. We almost made a major financial mistake. Shop around, but whatever you do ask if the home is family run and operated. If not walk away. Simple as that.
